december fotoplay : gallery 4

It seems that the zeitgeist of this group of December Fotoplay cards is Conceptual. The above work was created by my old friend Hannah who lives in northern California. She sent me the woven piece above, along with its title, “Pixelated Icon #1225.” Hannah also sent the back of the card in a separate file, with the title “Playground for Aspiring Icons.”

The next card was created by our friend Maurizio, an Italian graphic designer living in New York.

In his email to me, Maurizio enclosed the following poem:

La Marea

Tra la terra e il cielo

c’e tutto e niente.

Ma nel profondo

c’e sempre il mare

con la marea

che viene e va…

The Tide

Between the earth and the sky

there is everything and nothing.

But deep inside

there is always the sea

with the tide

that comes and goes…

Would it be hard to believe that the card above was created by a retired Professor of Philosophy? Our friend John never disappoints…

The card below was sent to me from my friend Patrick, who I met years ago at the 26th Street flea market in New York, where I spent Saturday mornings searching for (and buying) 19th century photography. Patrick is an ephemera addict, with an apartment that’s filled with bins of mostly turn-of-the-century paper product, which is what he used for the background of his piece.

I was asked by my friend to present this last card as “Created by Anonymous.” And I will leave it at that.
